as teenagers. Just this past week, a number of freshman were dressed up as famous characters like Ricky Bobby, Darth Vader, one of the minions from Despicable Me, and Homer Simpson. Movies

are a tool to help us unwind after a long day of work, school or athletics. These five movies are great choices for any occasion.

22 Jump Street

This movie is the sequel to the widely loved and hilarious “21 Jump Street’ starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. These two goofy cops infiltrate a college to find the supplier of a popular and

intense drug. During their adventure they have to overcome serious obstacles in the most comic ways. “It was funnier than the first movie and the college setting is better because you can do more

dangerous stuff,” junior Rowdy Hinckley said.

Guardians of the Galaxy

“Guardians of the Galaxy” was a huge blockbuster. The new Marvel Comics hit takes their original superheroes to a whole new level. This is a story of a man who is abducted by aliens and is eventually

the focus of a manhunt because of his habits of being a thief. This movie stars Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. “This movie lives up to other Marvel movies because of the fight scenes,”

freshman Sebastian Housh said. Another popular attribute of the movie was all of the hidden jokes and messages throughout the movie.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is the sequel to “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” This movie is starring new faces compared to the last Planet of the Apes film. This film stars Gary Oldman and Jason

Clarke. The main character of this film is still the ape, Caesar. “It was action-packed and just as exciting as the first movie in the series,” senior Clay McCrory said. “I’m a big monkey fan.” The film is a

unique take on the evolution of the human race and the creatures we surround ourselves with.

X-Men Days of Future Past

“X-Men Days of Future” past was a hit with the Men of St. Thomas because of its great fight scenes and the eye candy that is Jennifer Lawrence. This is a film that crosses the two groups of the

X-Men, old and new. The X-Men are being targeted by Sentinels, and they want to exterminate the mutant race. This movie spans from the X-Mansion to the United States congress following the

X-Men’s trip to save themselves. “It is definitely as action-packed as the other movies, and it has a great plot,” sophomore Gus Smythe said.

“Hercules,” starring Dwayne Johnson, is a phenomenal depiction of how awesome Dwayne Johnson really is. He showcases his raw power and strength. The story of Hercules has been made into

movies many times, but this version is especially good because of the special effects and cast. This movie is one that action film fans should definitely see. It is highly recommended to give this a go in

the theater.
