Return of Blue Bell over-hyped

Blue Bell is back which means binge eating after harsh breakups and people freaking out for no apparent reason.

Blue Bell has been around since 1907, yet people are acting as if ice cream is making a world premier. People are posting their Blue Bell cartons all over social media. Every time I open my Snapchat there are pictures with the dreaded caption, “Omg, it is finally back.”

No one cares. Keep your thoughts to yourself. Only wanna be trend followers post their cartons of Blue Bell all over social media.

I truly wonder what makes Blue Bell so special. I have never understood. The taste is completely overrated. There is nothing unique about Blue Bell. There is a certain point when ice cream is just that. Not to mention the fact that there are other tasty types of ice cream out there such as Cold Stone Creamery, Ben & Jerry’s, Marble Slab and Baskin Robbins.

Whenever Blue Bell was gone, people never went to Marble Slab or Baskin Robbins. If you really do love Blue Bell as much as you are trying to convince everyone that you do, then put down the phone. I do not care that you are stuffing your face with ice cream, keep your cheat day photos to yourself. Blue Bell is just like the fashion statement, you gotta have it. And the wanna be trend followers who fall into this trap are just like the kids who fall into the preppy clothing trap.

I believe that the hype of Blue Bell is just preposterous. Blue Bell originally started in Texas and people want to show their love for the state over a carton of ice cream. I understand that there is a certain nostalgic aspect of eating the same ice cream that your grandparents did, but I really wish I could fully comprehend this notion in the back of these peoples’ minds.

Baskin Robbins is just as good or even better than Blue Bell. It claims to be the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty stores, with 7,300 locations, including nearly 2,500 shops in the United States and over 4,800 located internationally. Additionally, Baskin Robbins sells ice cream to over 50 countries, whereas Blue Bell is only sold domestically here in the United States.

Marble Slab is another alternative. And it is much better than Blue Bell. Yes, it is true. And Marble Slab was not only founded in Texas, but it was founded in the city we rep, Houston. So there is no excuse for you to buy Blue Bell just to show your inner Texan. In case you have not heard, Blue Bell was shut down temporarily for a listeria outbreak.

Listeria is a life-threatening infection caused by eating food that contains the deadly virus. It seems like this really frightening fact was completely glossed over when the ice cream made a comeback. Three people died as a result of this outbreak. For all we know, there could be another listeria outbreak just around the corner.
