Box Office Analysis Weekend of October 23, 2015

With “The Martian” and “Goosebumps” at the top of the box office, last Friday’s movies failed to gain more than 10 million. Surprising the critical failure “The Last Witch Hunter,” rolled a D20 and luckily got its money back. Of course, the 6th of 7th (depending on how you count) Paranormal Activity movie failed horrendously, just over the limited theatrical release of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs, however, will probably be one of the most successful movies overall in terms of ratings this week, and completely out-shines the Ashton Kutcher movie “Jobs” in 2013. It is quite surprising that there are not as much Halloween movies as last year.

Box Office Analysis Weekend of October 16, 2015

The Martian was knocked of its top of the boxes office by the nostalgic comedy “Goosebumps” starring Jack Black. Goosebumps made surprisingly positive reviews and made 23.5 million this weekend, although seeing this the huge success of the last week’s the Martian, there will probably be a bigger success in profit there. Another surprise this weekend came from “Bridge of Spies” which made 3rd at the box office profiting 15.4 million, although positive ratings match “The Martian.” Finally “Crimson Peak,” became a diamond in the rough of mass marketed horrors, having some fantastic visuals and a creepy atmosphere when sticking to its story. Yet the clichés shunned away some of the audience clearing only 4th at the box office with 12.9 million this weekend.
