This week started off with the annual Father-Son mass.

The mass was presided over by the General Superior of the Basilian Fathers, Father George Smith who traveled all the way from Toronto to be here at St. Thomas for the mass, which was another milestone in a week of heavy traveling from Toronto to the Vatican where he met with Pope Francis, to Houston where he visited the University of St. Thomas.

After visiting the University of St. Thomas, Father Smith followed up with a quick pit stop in Chicago which led to a return to Toronto where he then turned around and came back to Houston to preside over the father-son mass.

Father George provided a heart warming sermon to the packed audience in Reckling gymnasium about the true depth of our fathers love for us and how it is a mirror image of God’s love for all of His people.

After the mass, the Mother’s Club generously provided a warm reception for the fathers and sons in Cemo Auditorium that featured Shipley’s donuts, kolaches, St. Thomas’ famous punch and enough coffee to jump-start the men of the St. Thomas community.
