The Eagles flew high Thursday, Oct. 22, after a great victory of Monsignor Kelly High School from Beaumont.
The Kelly Bulldogs made a long trip to Granger Stadium only to get sent home with one more loss under their belts.
With a final score of 56-7, quarter back Michael Keating and the Eagles move their record up to 6-1 with a 2-0 record in district games. The STH offense continues to impress with a total of 558 yards.
St. Thomas scored eight touchdowns against the Kelly Bulldogs’ defense. Senior quarterback Michael Keating led the way by completing 12 of 16 passes. Keating’s running back senior William Heck also had a day with a total of 98 yards on 3 carries. Heck scored two touchdowns with a long 77-yard run. Wide receivers junior Jhamon Ausbon and senior Drew Guidroz had very successful games each accumulating over 90 receiving yards.
The Eagle defense also showed up read to play by forcing two interceptions off of the Kelly quarterback Connor Quinn. The defense locked down Quinn by allowing him to only complete five of 22 passing attempts and of those five completions they were only able to gain four total yards. The Eagles defense allowed a game total of only 124 yards and one touchdown in the fourth quarter.
By the end of the game the Eagles had racked up a total of 56 points and holding the Bulldogs to a whopping 7 points.
