Mother-Son Mass proves to be spiritual success

IMG_9555It was another year and another successful Mother-Son Mass for the St. Thomas community.

The annual Mother-Son Mass was on Tuesday December 8, 2015. This is a great opportunity for mothers to join their sons for a Mass that was led by Cardinal Daniel DiNardo. Dinardo is the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and he was ordained to the priesthood on July 16, 1977 by Bishop Vincent Leonard.

The Mother-Son Mass happens once a year and it is a very special Mass because the majority of the students are joined by their mother. The service took place in the gym and was full with one side of the bleachers completely full and the other side close to being full, even more than the Father-Son Mass.

However, this is not the first time that Cardinal DiNardo was at the school to help with a St. Thomas High School Mass. He led a prayer service two years ago and we are always happy to welcome him back on campus.

Before or after the service the students could get their photo taken with their mother. Also, after the Mass there was some time for socializing in Cemo Auditorium where there were kolaches, doughnuts, and drinks such as coffee and orange juice. Thanks to the Mothers Club of St. Thomas, the reception had enough food and refreshments to last all of those present.
