Lack of Texas pledge inconsistent with school values

To the Editor:

Our school needs to honor its Texan heritage. It is dismaying that our school neglects the Texas Pledge of Allegiance, which is said daily at thousands or schools across the state, but ignored at ours. It is a short, 17 word pledge that respects Texas and its values. EBN could easily broadcast the Texas Flag Pledge right after the Our Father and American Flag Pledge of Allegiance, and I imagine that there is broad student support for this measure. Often times I have heard St. Thomas students bragging how Texan our school is, what with our Round-Up frenzy and truck-laden parking garage. As it stands now, we walk the Texan walk, but we don’t talk the Texan talk.
