Students show eclectic music preferences

A poll was given to 150 STH students to see who is their favorite artists. The poll questioned the students on who their favorite artists were in a selection of genres including Country, Hip-Hop/Rap, Rock, Pop , and Electronic/Dubstep. They were also asked out of the top five songs on the Billboard Hot 100 which was their favorite.

In the Country category the possible choices where Josh Abbot Band, Taylor Swift, Pat Green, and Zach Brown Band, with Taylor Swift being the winner.

In the Hip-Hop/Rap category the choices included Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, and 90s Artists, with the winner being Wiz Khalifa.

The rock category was filled with the choices of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rise Against, Blink-182, and Classic Rock Artists. There was a close tie between The Chilli Peppers and Classic Rock but the Red Hot Chilli Peppers came out on top.

In the pop category were artists Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, and LMFAO, with an overwhelming student vote that put LMFAO on top.

In the less known category Electronic/Dubstep, the artists that could be chosen were Rusko, Deadmau5, Skrillex, and Ghostland Observatory with Skrilex winning by a landslide.

Finally a question was asked, out of the top five songs on the Billboard Hot 100, which is your favorite? The choices were “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5, “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO, “Pump Up The Kicks” by Foster the People, “Lighters” by Bad Meets Evil (feat. Eminem and Royce 5’9’’), and Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” (T.G.I.F.). LMFAO was once again shown to be the students favorite with their song “Party Rock Anthem”.
