To the Editor:
Have you wondered why Saint Thomas does not get more students into top tier schools?
As one of the strongest schools in the Houston area in academics, why is it that I can count the number of people that went to a top tier school last year?
Granted, some students get in because of athletic prowess (Congratulations Brian, Christian, Hunter and Austin), but St. Thomas, explicitly called a “college prep” school should manage to get more students into top schools.
Whether it is due to a lack of guidance and time spent or college applications, or a result of a simple statistical discrepancy, I think it is alarming that talented students aiming for top schools like Harvard, Stanford, Yale, and MIT, have such a hard time reaching their goals. Just my two cents.
