Austin City Limits will take place over the weekend of October 12 to the 14th in Austin, Tex..
ACL has been around since 2002 but has just recently become popular among students. This world famous festival has attracted musicians from across America and this year’s lineup is no less impressive than years past. However, it falls on the same weekend as Homecoming.
Many upperclassmen are opting for ACL, in hopes of making it up to their dates by going to Prom in the spring.
“ACL is going to be off the CHAIN. My date doesn’t care because she’ll be up there with me on Saturday,” senior Connor Hicks said.
ACL has every type of music to satisfy any music lover’s taste, not to mention it’s in the beautiful Zilker Park in the middle of downtown Austin. No other place would be appropriate for such a festival since Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World.”
Some students from St. Thomas are staying with relatives or siblings that attend the University of Texas or St. Edward’s University, while others are dropping the big dough for a hotel room. Hotel rooms on ACL weekend can range anywhere from $200 to $400 a night. Add that to $280 to $400 for a 3-day pass, and an expensive weekend is on tap. However, music enthusiasts maintain that it’s worth dishing out the money for an experience of a lifetime.
This year’s lineup is a huge selling point for many students. Big name artists such as The Black Keys, Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Avicii and Bassnectar will be performing, guaranteed to melt your face off.
