Ice Skating
Moderately Recommended
Ice skating is always available during this time of the year. Although most do not have the best ice skating talent, it is always fun to give it a try with friends or family.
You can even impress the ladies, take a date to the rink. Show her she is really special with a slow, romantic lap, dodging all the screaming kids and overzealous ice dancer wannabees.
Discovery Green, located in Downtown Houston, and malls like the Galleria or Memorial City have ice skating rinks.
Family Time
Highly Recommended
In the midst of the season, family time could not be more important. Sure, your parents may nag you and your siblings are annoying, but family is family. Your familly  is your central part of your life. They have been there in the best and worst part of your lives.
Whether you shop till you drop or sit by the fire eating fondue, you will certainly miss these oppurtunities when you travel off to college.
So spend time with your folks, its worth it. Make the best of the experience, and have fun with your family this holiday season.
Houston Rockets
Moderately Recommended
The Houston Rockets are doing pretty well this season – so it might be fun to go watch a game at the Toyota Center and support the squad.
Tickets are available for as cheap as $35 per seat (obviously varying on where the seat is).
Take your friends or family and support the team.
The Rockets are playing against the following teams at Toyota Center: Chicago Bulls Dec. 18, Dallas Mavericks Dec. 23, Memphis Grizzlies Dec. 26, New Orleans Pelicans Dec. 28, Sacramento Kings Dec. 31 and New York Knicks Jan. 3.
Movies
Moderately Recommended
If movies are more of your thing – be sure to check out “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd.
It is supposed to be one of the funniest movies of the year. The plot is about newsman Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and his crew leading the broadcasting news competition.
Those of you who have seen “Anchorman” will definitely understand how hilarious this new one should be.
Will Ferrell is definitely worth the watch in this upcoming movie.
Zoo Lights
Highly Recommended
For something more relaxing and recreational, go to the Houston Zoo to see the TXU Energy Presents Zoo Lights. This is a light show that occurs every night from Nov. 22 until Jan. 4.
Except for the nights of Dec. 24 and 25, you can take a date, friends or family to see the extravagant light display throughout the zoo.
The beautiful lights are put up around the landscape and also on the shapes of cute animals. The tour can also be accompanied with warm cups of hot chocolate for a lovely night.
Every night at 6 p.m. Zoo Lights is available at $12 per person at the door, $10 if purchased online.
