Exciting Changes Ahead for Eagle Publications

Exciting+Changes+Ahead+for+Eagle+Publications

As the 2017-2018 academic year comes to a close, the staff of the Eagle would like to thank its readers for their support and participation throughout the year.  It has truly been a year of transition and challenge, but also some really exciting learning and growth.

A Fresh New Look
The staff of The Eagle now looks ahead to some very exciting changes for the 2018-2019 school year.  First and foremost, the fall semester of 2018 will see The Eagle’s 90th year as a print publication will begin with a complete format change from a newspaper to a news magazine.  The Eagle will now be a quarterly 24-32 page magazine that will allow for increased creativity and options in design, photography, and story coverage.  The format change also allows for all production steps, including printing, can be done in-house at St. Thomas, helping to speed distribution and cut costs.

Increased Online Presence
In coordination with our new news magazine format, The Eagle Online will see a dramatic increase in coverage.  The immediacy of the online format allows for more timely coverage of school events and exclusive features about St. Thomas, Houston, and the world.  Our goal is to make theeagle.sths.org a one-stop shop for St. Thomas news, features, opinion, sports, and entertainment. Also, follow @stheagles on Twitter and Instagram for even more online coverage.

More Student Involvement
It has always been, and continues to be, The Eagle’s main purpose to provide the entire St. Thomas community with the highest quality, student-produced content possible.  It is our goal to solicit more involvement from the student body to ensure that we are telling the stories that matter most to St. Thomas.

One thing will never change about The Eagle or Eagle Publications as a whole.  Whether it be the Aquin yearbook, The Eagle Magazine, or The Eagle Online, all of St. Thomas publications entities will always be student-produced and student-run. There are many outlets for news about St. Thomas, but The Eagle will always be for students, by students.

2018-2019 is going to be the most exciting year yet for Eagle Publications, we hope you will join us for the ride!
