GUIDELINES FOR LETTER TO THE EDITOR: -Be TIMELY: Write your letter about issues that have happened recently or, better yet, are happening currently. If you are addressing an article written in The Eagle Online or the print edition of The Eagle, the letter should be submitted as closely as possible to the publication date. -INCLUDE CONTACT INFORMATION: You must provide your name and STH email address. Anonymous letters will not be printed or posted. -BE CLEAR: Letters to the editor are not an opportunity to describe or summarize an event or something happening at STH, they are intended to raise an issue, take a stand, and offer a way forward. If you are raising concerns about an issue, you must provide a potential solution or answer to the problem, this is not an open forum to complain. -BE CONCISE: 1- 3 paragraphs, ~250 words. Short letters show confidence in your position. -BE ACCURATE: Letters that are factually inaccurate are not printed. -AVOID PERSONAL ATTACKS: Show respect for the opposite opinion. Being rude may cause people to disagree with you on principle. No letters with inflammatory or inappropriate language will be considered. -PROOFREAD: Re-read your letter. Check for grammar and spelling mistakes. If possible, ask another person to read your letter for accuracy and clarity. -The Eagle Online reserves the right to use or refuse letters at any time.
