Every year on Round Up students beat the record for bringing in the most money. On the final Friday before Round Up, it was looking like last year's record was not going to be broken. In a last attempt to reach our goal, the board was sent out during school to bring in as much money as possible.
Selling in the tunnels of downtown can be a very difficult task, but senior Chase Brown accepted the challenge.
After two in the afternoon, the deadline struck. All the money was in. The only thing left to do was count.
Once the money was counted, it was time to drive out on the field and tell the school how they did.
We had successively beaten our goal. On that final Friday, the board alone brought in a whopping $80,000 in one day. The school raised a collective total of over $500,000.
Students roared with excitement and began to raise their hands in a letter W as an attempt to gain Wednesday off.
Although they did not gain Wednesday off following Round Up, Fr. Storey did grant Monday and Tuesday off. More importantly, this great achievement would allow current and additional new students to attend St. Thomas and receive financial aid.
The Eagle is the official award-winning website for the student newspaper of the same name. The Eagle has been the student newspaper at St. Thomas High School since 1929, and is published approximately every two weeks during the school year, except during final exams and holidays.
