Free Press Summer Fest 2016 line-up announced

This year marks the seventh anniversary of Houston’s Free Press Summer Fest.

Since 2009, thousands of avid fans gather in Eleanor Tinsley Park during the first week of June to experience this event. From local bands to national superstars, Summerfest always promises an amazing lineup.

It has become a tradition here at St. Thomas to buy early access tickets, only to use up the bandwidth a few weeks later as we gracefully stalk the FPSF website, waiting for the release of the next lineup. The 2016 schedule has just dropped, and already it seems as promising as the monumental lineups we have all seen in the past. Modest Mouse, Leon Bridges, A$AP Ferg, Mac Miller, Logic, Mac Demarco, Matt and Kim: the list just keeps growing with more and more favorites.

As the weeks drag by until summer, we can expect the list to only grow. While some artists might decide to drop themselves from the list, it is important to remember that others will sign up in their place. So as our school year drags to an end, we can all start getting pumped up for summer. So grab your tickets and wash those 7-inch shorts, because Summerfest is about to take off.

Running a newspaper is something senior Peyton Gist has grown to master. He is the current Managing Editor of “The Eagle.” He got his start last year as the editor for entertainment, where he worked his way up the ladder and ended up writing a bunch of staff editorials, and mastered the art of using a paper to anonymously throw shade. This year, he is in charge of ensuring that the eighty-eight year old paper lives up to its expectations. Saint Thomas has grown to be a home for him, and if he isn’t sitting quietly in class or walking silently down the hall, he is most likely in the publications room working on the paper. Although he does this work for free, if he got paid for his effort he would really make bank.
