Honoring Our Heroes

Honoring Our Heroes

It is a fact that for the past 8 months, our essential workers have been subject to extreme amounts of stress and hardship. This is especially true for those working in hospitals; those who have family who works on the frontlines can relate. My aunt currently works at Ipsum Diagnostics, a lab working on Covid tests and treatments, and says that ever since coronavirus arrived, her job got a lot harder. This is also true for EMS workers, firefighters, police officers, and even those who remove our garbage and clean our streets every day, who don’t have the option to “stay home.” These heroes tirelessly put their lives on the line to protect others, and I believe that they deserve much more recognition than they are currently receiving. Perhaps STH could dedicate a board in the Hall of Honor with pictures of family members who work on the frontlines or produce some sort of tribute on EBN on some mornings. It’s enough that they have to get up every day, not knowing if they’ll go home at night, so I believe that a little bit of recognition and support would go a long way.
