A Change in the BLock Schedule

A Change in the BLock Schedule

My suggestion for St. Thomas is to mix in late start days into the schedule for the second semester. During the first semester, students and teachers had several weeks of the same block schedule. After a couple of consecutive weeks with this schedule, school began feeling monotonous and repetitive. Starting the school day at 9:00 a.m. and shortening each class by fifteen minutes for just two of the block days in a week would make the day feel more exciting and offer a nice change. This shortened block schedule would not occur every week, but possibly every two or three weeks. This change would help students catch up on their sleep and vary a sometimes dull and very repetitive schedule. It would also allow additional meeting times for students and teachers if necessary.
