The Greatness of STH

The Greatness of STH

Yes, I’m writing again, however this time, I want to thank the amazing staff here at our school. Perhaps some more context. Back in October of last year, I sent an article to this newspaper, highlighting an issue that has gotten little attention here until recently: conservation, specifically of the environment. Besides from picking up after yourself, turning unnecessary lights off, and riding a bike or walking instead of driving, there is no easier and simpler way of showing Mother Nature you care by recycling what can be recycled. Unfortunately, at the time, there were virtually no options to recycle in the cafeteria,  resulting in plastics and other harmful substances possibly ending up in our lakes and bayous, eventually the ocean, causing an array of issues. Because of this simple message I brought into the spotlight not long ago, the hard-working staff at St. Thomas has gone out of their way once again to place two recycling containers near the front doors of the cafeteria. Although it is unclear how much my article influenced the decision, I know of no other school that would go out of their way to make an advancement that a student suggested. Trust me, I’ve been to many schools in this country and around the world, and none of them can even compare to St. Thomas. In saying this, I thank all the staff working at this special place, and I’m confident that the best days are yet to come.
