The winter storm last week caused extensive damage to the state of Texas. St Thomas did the right thing by closing the school for the week, as many of us did not have power, Wi-Fi, or water for days. Thankfully, the Texas Education Agency has given us an exemption, and we will not need to make up the lost days. Right now the administration is trying to figure out how to get those days back. The teachers still need to teach their curriculum, but I hope the school will consider (once again) cancelling spring finals. This will give the teachers the week back without having to race through subjects, and give them extra time to finish teaching what was intended. Making us take finals at the end of the semester will put more pressure on the teachers and students in a year that has already been stressful enough.
