What is the new normal?
Since March last year students across the world have had to adapt to online school, but as we are coming to the end of this school year at St. Thomas, we are slowly returning back to a more “normal” school environment. The school year is coming to an end and everyone tends to question, “What will be the new normal, and what will next fall look like.” Currently, we, the students, have do not have the answers, but many parents and students are curious about what school will look like in the Fall of 2021. Will virtual learning no longer be an option? Will masks be required or optional? Will we have the opportunity to attend all of the old school activities? Will we distance ourselves in class and during lunch? This is a hard question to answer as many want to have a “normal” high school experience. The answers will cause some a bit of distress and concern because the pandemic changed our outlook on everything. It was not long ago that we received correspondence from our administration informing us of their incredibly difficult decisions they made in the Spring of 2020. They created an environment that made us feel safe to return to school in the fall, and we followed their lead throughout the year. Now, we eagerly wait for their future correspondence and many of us are hoping for answers to all of the questions we have. I am personally ready to find out what our new normal will look like. I thought I would share and point out how many feel at the moment as we have no idea how the pandemic will impact St. Thomas High School in the Fall of 2021.
